How to Buy Spotify Premium with Klarna: European Guide

Klarna works directly at Spotify's checkout in Germany and Austria: select it at spotify.com/premium and Klarna pays Spotify immediately, giving you 30 days to settle with no fee. In the Netherlands, France, and Belgium, Klarna is not a direct option at Spotify's checkout. The workaround is to buy a Spotify gift card code at G2A or Eneba using Klarna, then redeem it on your account. Spotify ended its own gift card program in March 2025; codes on resellers come from existing third-party stock.

How Klarna Works for Spotify in Europe

Klarna is integrated directly into Spotify's checkout in Germany and Austria. In those markets, selecting Klarna at spotify.com/premium means Klarna pays Spotify on your behalf immediately and you have 30 days to settle your payment with Klarna *(Spotify, 2025)*. No gift card or top-up is required.

In the Netherlands, France, Belgium, and most other European markets, Klarna is not listed as a direct payment option at Spotify's checkout. The route for those markets is to buy a Spotify gift card code from a third-party reseller that accepts Klarna, then redeem the code on your Spotify account.

Spotify ended its official gift card sales program in March 2025. Third-party resellers including G2A and Eneba continue to sell Spotify codes from existing stock. Gift cards are country-specific: a German code will not redeem on a Dutch Spotify account, and vice versa. Gift cards are redeemable only for the Individual Premium plan and cannot be applied to Duo, Family, or Student subscriptions.

Step-by-Step: Paying for Spotify Premium with Klarna

Step 1: Check whether Klarna appears at Spotify checkout

Log in to your Spotify account and go to spotify.com/premium. On the payment page, check if Klarna is listed. In Germany and Austria, Klarna should appear as a direct option. If it does, go to Step 2. If not, follow Steps 3 to 5 instead.

Step 2: (Germany and Austria) Select Klarna and confirm

Choose Klarna on the Spotify payment page. Klarna pays Spotify immediately on your behalf. You have 30 days to settle the amount with Klarna. No additional fee applies to this transaction *(Klarna, 2025)*.

Step 3: (Other markets) Open a reseller that accepts Klarna

If Klarna is not available directly at Spotify in your country, go to a gift card reseller that sells Spotify codes and lists Klarna as a payment option. G2A and Eneba both confirm Klarna support and carry Spotify gift cards for multiple European markets.

Step 4: Select the denomination and country that match your Spotify account

On the reseller site, pick a Spotify gift card that matches your Spotify account's country setting exactly. Common denominations are €10, €20, €30, and €60. A Belgian code will not redeem on a Netherlands account, even though both use euros.

Step 5: Pay with Klarna and redeem the code on Spotify

Complete the Klarna checkout on the reseller site. You will receive the code by email, usually within minutes. Go to spotify.com/redeem, enter the code, and click Redeem. The credit is applied to your account immediately.

Fees, Limits, and Availability

Klarna Pay Later at Spotify's direct checkout in Germany carries no consumer fee: the Klarna invoice terms for Germany set the fee at zero *(Klarna, 2025)*. At resellers like G2A and Eneba, Klarna Pay Now and Pay Later are also free of additional charges. Klarna Pay in 3 has a minimum order of €35, which rules it out for €10 gift cards.

Klarna is available in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and most other European countries. Transaction approval is assessed per purchase based on your Klarna account history, not a fixed credit limit.

Gift cards are country-specific. A Belgian €30 Spotify code will not redeem on a Netherlands account, despite using the same currency. Check the card's market label on the reseller listing before buying and confirm it matches your Spotify account's country.
