Where Can You Use DaoPay?
DaoPay is not a shop. It is a phone-bill payment option that appears at the checkout of a small number of digital stores, mostly gift card and game credit resellers. The typical use is buying a prepaid voucher such as paysafecard, or a gift card for Steam, Roblox, Google Play or PlayStation, and paying with your phone instead of a card or bank account. What you receive is a normal code by email. The code works anywhere that brand is accepted; only the payment step is tied to your phone. Big platforms such as Steam, Roblox or Netflix do not offer DaoPay directly, so the voucher route is the way to use it there.
DaoPay Call vs DaoPay SMS
DaoPay runs two consumer channels, and shops usually show only one of them per country.
DaoPay Call. You pick DaoPay Call at checkout and land on a secure DaoPay page that shows a premium-rate phone number. You call it and stay on the line until the amount is paid; the cost is billed per minute of the call. Orders above roughly 10 EUR normally need several calls, so a full order takes 10 to 20 minutes (Dundle support, October 2026).
DaoPay SMS. You send one or more premium text messages to a short code. Each message carries a fixed amount, and you receive a confirmation code to enter at checkout. Small orders fit in one message; larger ones need several.
On a contract phone the amount appears on your next monthly invoice. On a prepaid SIM it is deducted from your calling credit at once, so top up before you start.
DaoPay Limits
DaoPay itself publishes no fixed cap. The limit comes from your mobile carrier, and in most countries it resets weekly. Per-transaction carrier billing limits in the EU usually sit around 30 to 40 EUR, which is why a 50 EUR voucher often has to be paid in parts. If you hit the limit, the DaoPay page refuses the next call or SMS; you can finish the order after the reset, or pay the remainder with another method where the shop allows it.
A partial payment you have started expires after 24 hours. After that the order is cancelled and any money already paid is handled as a refund by the shop, not by DaoPay.
Checking Your DaoPay Transactions
DaoPay keeps a consumer portal at my.daopay.com where you look up every charge made to your phone number and the shop it was paid to. Use it when a line on your phone bill reads DaoPay and you do not recognise it. Questions about a charge go to support@daopay.com; questions about an order that never arrived go to the shop you bought from.
DaoPay GmbH is based in Vienna and is licensed as a payment service provider by the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA). It connects to telecom operators in more than 70 countries, but gift card shops only enable it in a handful of European markets. Austria has the most consistent coverage, Germany and France partial support, and Switzerland none.
When DaoPay Makes Sense
- You have no card and no bank account, or you do not want to share them with a shop.
- The order is small, ideally under 10 EUR, so one call or one SMS covers it.
- Your carrier supports premium billing; business and some budget SIMs block it.
If you do have a bank account, SEPA, iDEAL or Bancontact buy the same voucher without the 30% surcharge.
